Role overview
This is a permanent, full-time Paint Prepper position with a manufacturing business in Halstead, Essex. The role is based on site and offers day-shift work, long-term job security, and the chance to earn between £28,000 and £32,000 per year depending on experience. The hourly equivalent mentioned is £14.00 to £16.00 per hour.

What you will do
You will work in a busy paint shop preparing metal and fibreglass parts so they are ready for painting. The work involves checking components, correcting small surface imperfections, sanding, filling, cleaning, and making sure every item meets the required quality level before it moves into the paint stage. You will also work alongside the paint shop and production teams while learning specialist methods and improving your technical ability.
Working pattern and employment details
This is a full-time, permanent job on day shifts, Monday to Friday, with overtime available.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will have prior hands-on experience in paint prep, manufacturing, or a similar workshop-based role. A strong eye for detail, pride in producing neat work, and confidence using preparation tools are all important. The employer also wants someone who is willing to learn, develop new skills, and work comfortably in a physically active workshop environment.
Desirable background
Experience preparing metal or fibreglass parts, using fillers or masking methods, or working in automotive, manufacturing, or industrial finishing would be an advantage. Familiarity with DA sanders and grinders is also beneficial, especially for those aiming for the higher pay range.
