Role overview

This is a full-time, permanent clinic-based Phlebotomist position in Galway. The role sits within a health diagnostics organisation focused on preventative healthcare and biomarker tracking, helping clients understand and monitor their wellbeing through testing and data-led insights.

Location and schedule

The role is based at 3-5 William Street, Galway, H91 Y9HE. Working hours are not fully fixed yet, but the job will involve 8-hour shifts across 5 days each week, with weekend work included. Flexibility is also expected for evenings and occasional offsite work at least once a month.

What the role involves

You will be the first point of contact for clients and will support a smooth, professional clinic experience from arrival through to sample collection and record handling. The position combines clinical sampling, client interaction, accurate documentation, and a sales-oriented service approach.

• Carry out client appointments end to end, including blood and urine collection, health measurements, and entry of information into the patient system.
• Communicate clearly and sensitively so clients understand the process and can give informed consent.
• Keep patient records accurate and upload supporting documents correctly.
• Represent the company professionally at external appointments and events.
• Promote additional services through upselling and cross-selling in the private clinic environment.
• Support revenue goals by actively contributing to sales performance and target achievement.
• Prepare company paperwork, specimen labels, and laboratory request forms with care and accuracy.
• Use multiple software tools confidently and complete daily tasks with a high level of IT competence.

Essential requirements

The employer is looking for someone with prior phlebotomy experience and a phlebotomy certificate or equivalent training. Strong communication skills, confidence with computer systems, and the ability to work flexibly are important. Applicants must already have the right to work in Ireland without sponsorship.

Desirable experience

Additional background in private healthcare, customer service, retail or sales would be beneficial. Two years of phlebotomy experience and a valid Irish driving licence are also preferred.

Compliance and checks

Because the role may involve contact with live blood samples, the successful candidate must already be vaccinated against Hepatitis B or be able to obtain it after a successful interview. The role also requires Garda vetting in line with Care Quality Commission guidelines.
