Role summary
This position calls for a meticulous and outcome-focused Project Manager – Financial Control to manage financial governance, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control for projects. The role is centered on maintaining financial discipline, ensuring transparency, and meeting compliance requirements while supporting smooth project delivery through sound financial planning and tracking.
Project financial planning and budgeting
- Create and maintain detailed project budgets, financial models, and forecasts.
- Work with project teams to ensure budgets match scope and timelines.
- Monitor budget usage and spot financial risks at an early stage.
Financial monitoring and control
- Track project spending and ensure it stays within approved limits.
- Perform variance analysis between budgeted and actual figures and suggest corrective steps.
- Apply cost-control measures to strengthen project profitability.
Reporting and analysis
- Prepare regular financial reports, dashboards, and KPI updates for stakeholders.
- Share insights on project financial performance, trends, and risks.
- Assist senior leaders in making strategic finance-related decisions.
Governance and compliance
- Ensure adherence to company financial policies, accounting standards, and audit expectations.
- Keep complete documentation for financial transactions and approvals.
- Support internal and external audits involving project finances.
Stakeholder management
- Coordinate with finance, procurement, and project teams to keep financial plans aligned.
- Present financial status, risks, and opportunities clearly to stakeholders.
- Serve as a financial advisor to project managers and business leaders.
Process improvement
- Look for ways to improve financial processes, tools, and reporting methods.
- Promote automation and standardization in financial controls.
- Contribute to ERP or finance-system enhancement initiatives.
Skills and competencies
- Solid understanding of project accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Strong ability in financial analysis and cost control.
- Good command of MS Excel and financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, or ERP tools.
- Analytical thinking and effective problem-solving ability.
- Clear communication and strong stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- CA, CPA, CFA, or an MBA in Finance is preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in financial control, project finance, or FP&A.
- Prior experience in project-based environments such as IT, consulting, infrastructure, or manufacturing is preferred.
