Position overview
The Risk Manager will steer the design, rollout, and upkeep of risk management and business continuity management frameworks across NEOM Green Hydrogen Company. This role is responsible for providing specialist guidance on risk and BCM matters, delivering consolidated updates to leadership, committees, and the Board of Directors, and ensuring strong engagement with the Audit & Finance Committee on risk reporting and closure of Internal Audit observations.
Role purpose and scope
Working closely with the Management Committee, the Risk Manager will advise, coordinate, and support the deployment of the company’s Risk and BCM frameworks so that governance remains consistent and robust across all business units. The role also ensures that risk controls and internal control environments are effective and working as intended.
Reports to: Chief Finance Officer
Liaises/cooperates with: Leadership Team, Directors, Functional Leads
Enterprise risk management
- Shape and execute the company’s risk management framework and strategy, setting clear expectations for leaders and managers while tracking performance to strengthen the overall risk position.
- Provide expert direction, methods, and tools needed to embed the framework successfully across the business.
- Help the organization identify threats to reputation, financial sustainability, operational performance, and safety, building a common understanding of exposure and priorities.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of periodic risk reports for the CEO and Management Committee, including practical mitigation and prevention actions.
Business continuity management
- Drive the establishment of business continuity capability across NEOM Green Hydrogen Company.
- Keep business continuity policies current and ensure they align with regulatory expectations and recognized best practice.
- Carry out business impact assessments and high-level risk reviews to support continuity planning.
- Work with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, and external partners to keep continuity strategies and plans aligned and clearly communicated.
- Partner with the crisis management team during major incidents, supporting recovery activities and timely response.
- Strengthen continuity plans through regular reviews, testing, and executive reporting on progress and effectiveness.
Risk and audit integration
- Provide assurance to the Management Committee and Leadership Team regarding compliance with Internal Audit findings.
- Serve as an independent advisor on the delivery approach for Internal Audits and oversee both current audits and the preparation of upcoming ones.
- Draft and present reports showing audit compliance status and the likely closure of internal audit memorandums.
- Maintain active communication with Internal Audit, Finance Committee members, and internal audit teams.
- Ensure audit actions are closed on time by holding process owners accountable.
Required education and experience
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related discipline is required. The role also requires experience in a multicultural work environment, along with solid knowledge of risk management and business continuity. Professional certification in Risk Management such as RMP, IRM, or an equivalent qualification is required, and CBCI or a similar business continuity certification is also needed. Prior experience in the GCC is preferred.
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience and a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role.
Skills and knowledge
- Experience building and continuously improving enterprise risk management functions and documentation
- Background in risk management for large-scale industrial operations across the full lifecycle, such as oil and gas
- Strong experience working in multicultural environments
- Working knowledge of Saudi Arabian regulatory requirements and business continuity best practices
- Deep understanding of risk assessment methods and compliance frameworks
- Experience with internal audits and risk mitigation follow-up
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to analyze complex technical and interpersonal issues and resolve them effectively
- Capability to lead groups toward targets within tight timelines
