The Opportunity

The Alerting team sits at the heart of the Grafana open-source project and focuses on giving users a powerful way to manage alerts. The backend-oriented group works alongside customers and Grafana Cloud teams to make Alerting function reliably both on-premises and at very large scale in the cloud.

Recent work in this area has included building distributed systems for alert ingestion and delivery, aligning alerting setup across Grafana and Prometheus-based alerts, and scaling alert evaluation for Grafana-managed alerts to more than 500 evaluations per second in production.

Grafana Alerting is used by major organizations around the world, including teams monitoring medical devices and critical infrastructure. The squad values varied viewpoints and encourages every member to contribute ideas that strengthen the product.

What You’ll Do

• Help shape the team roadmap while also influencing your own growth goals.
• Partner with teammates to launch new features and refine them using real-world results.
• Own projects from early idea stage through to production operations.
• Contribute to open source work beyond the immediate scope of the team when appropriate.
• Design, build, run, and support essential services with accountability for reliability, performance, and uptime.
• Participate in on-call rotations and take responsibility for the systems you operate.
• Support and mentor colleagues while joining design reviews and team collaboration.
• Expand your skills by learning the cloud product, customer needs, and a large distributed codebase.

• You have worked on cloud software or have systems engineering experience.
• You write code that is clean, resilient, high-performing, and maintainable by others.

Compensation and Rewards

The salary range for this role in the UK is GBP 91,755 to GBP 110,106 per year. Final pay can differ based on level, experience, and skills assessed during interviews. This role also includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), giving team members ownership in Grafana Labs’ success.
