Job overview

This role is responsible for managing project-level financial control, reporting, forecasting, budgeting support, and governance. The Senior Financial Controller will work closely with project teams and business leaders to ensure sound financial decision-making, strong controls, and reliable analysis.

Project financial control

  • Track the financial health of projects, including revenue, costs, margins, and overall profitability.
  • Compare actual results with budgets and forecasts, and flag risks together with recommended corrective measures.
  • Maintain accurate project accounting records, including accruals, provisions, and cost recognition.
  • Work with project managers to interpret financial performance and improve project outcomes.

Cost allocation and recharge

  • Manage complex cost allocation and intercompany recharge activities.
  • Create and maintain clear, consistent allocation methods.

  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packs.

Budgeting and planning

  • Support budgeting and forecasting across projects and departments.

  • Carry out scenario analysis and sensitivity analysis when required.

Controls and governance

  • Improve internal controls in project accounting and cost allocation processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and financial governance requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests.
  • Recommend process changes that improve accuracy and efficiency.

Business partnering

  • Serve as a finance partner to project managers and business leaders.
  • Offer practical financial guidance that supports decision-making.
  • Constructively challenge assumptions to strengthen financial discipline.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Professional certification such as CIMA, ACCA, CPA, or an equivalent credential is preferred.
