This is an opportunity to join the MakerSpace team in Darwin as a Site Supervisor, supporting a hands-on environment where structured work, technical capability, and safe operations are essential.

Role overview

The Site Supervisor will oversee day-to-day MakerSpace operations and carry out a range of structured tasks with limited complexity. The role involves site administration, user support, equipment oversight, and helping deliver MakerSpace programs and training.

Key responsibilities

• Run the MakerSpace site on a daily basis in line with current policy, procedure, or guidance from the Program or Operations Manager, including administrative and reporting duties.
• Manage user sign-in, induction, and authorisation processes according to established procedures.
• Support the safety of users and maintain orderly site operations.
• Plan consumable requirements using governance requirements and with input from the Procurement Manager.
• Receive, count, and store materials obtained for site use.
• Oversee preventative maintenance and any required maintenance of site equipment.
• Work with local Commonwealth units to promote MakerSpace services and capability.
• Deliver both structured and informal training to users.
• Support delivery of MakerSpace programs and course content, including assistance at remote sites when needed.

Requirements

• Hands-on technical background in Electronics, IT, Electrical, Fitter Machinist, or Mechanical trades, or at least 2 years of engineering experience in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Practical experience building unique designs or supporting low-volume production runs.
• Exposure to one or more of the following: laser CNC, 3D printing, VR/AR development, software programmable kits, smart applications, or general prototyping.
• Ability to operate fabrication equipment and the software used with it.
• Capability to research and choose ready-made software solutions, then make timely recommendations on need, purchase, and deployment.
• Good computer skills, including intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge and CAD experience.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage several projects at the same time and keep them moving efficiently.
• Ability to coach and support others so project goals are met.
• An Australian Defence security clearance at Baseline level, or the ability to obtain one.
