The Opportunity
This role is focused on driving profitable growth for Armorsteel by developing strong relationships with customers in the commercial, rural, and residential roofing and cladding sectors. The position involves field-based work for three days each week across the upper North Island, with the remaining time spent in the office. It suits a self-starter who is comfortable creating new business opportunities and maintaining long-term customer relationships. The ideal person will bring the attitude of being hungry, humble, and smart.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for creating sales growth, strengthening account relationships, keeping CRM records accurate, and working closely with internal teams to support smooth order handling and customer service. The role also requires regular communication with management about pipeline activity, market trends, and competitor movements.
Sales Growth and Business Development
- Create and implement sales plans that support revenue growth and improve gross profit.
- Bring in new customers while expanding revenue from existing accounts through upselling and cross-selling.
- Work toward or beyond the sales and gross profit targets established by management.
Customer Management
- Develop strong, lasting relationships with trades, commercial builders, roofers, and other key stakeholders.
- Carry out regular site visits and follow-up conversations, acting as the main contact for customers.
- Offer practical, tailored guidance and resolve issues quickly and professionally.
CRM and Reporting
- Maintain HubSpot records accurately across every customer interaction.
- Provide regular updates to management covering pipeline progress, market intelligence, and competitor activity.
Internal Coordination
- Partner with internal departments to ensure orders are processed correctly and fulfilled smoothly.
- Use the established Armorsteel sales process consistently to support quality outcomes.
Candidate Profile
Armorsteel is looking for someone with experience in field sales or account management, ideally within roofing, cladding, or building materials. You should be confident building relationships with everyone from tradespeople to architectural specifiers, highly self-driven, comfortable managing your own schedule and territory, and able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Experience with CRM systems is important, and HubSpot knowledge would be an advantage. The business also values people who can spot opportunities, solve problems, and create additional value.
