Role Overview

This position is responsible for leading the day-to-day and overall operations of an Assisted Living Facility (ALF) and a Specialty Care Assisted Living Facility (SCALF). The role must ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as any additional direction from the Executive Director, while maintaining the highest standard of resident care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all operations of the ALF and SCALF.
  • Guide, coach, and develop team members by supporting problem-solving and professional growth.
  • Increase or reduce staffing as needed from shift to shift, based on resident census and acuity.
  • Support hiring efforts by helping recruit, select, and place qualified staff.
  • Create, roll out, and sustain an effective onboarding program for new employees covering policies, procedures, role expectations, and job duties.
  • Monitor staff conduct through direct observation and respond promptly with corrective coaching, counseling, or disciplinary action when required.
  • Review employee performance and drive improvements as needed, ensuring 90-day and annual evaluations are completed on time with clear and objective feedback.
  • Build and maintain an ongoing Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and make recommendations to the Quality Assurance Committee when appropriate.
  • Assess residents to determine the proper level of care for admission, transfer, and discharge decisions.
  • Set up and maintain safe operating procedures for equipment, including staff competency checks.
  • Assist with budget preparation and planning, and submit recommendations to the Executive Director for review and approval.
  • Carry out administrative tasks such as reports, forms, and evaluations.
  • Handle additional duties, special assignments, and other work directed by the Executive Director.

Education and Experience

A degree in a business-related or healthcare-related field is required. Candidates must also have at least three years of experience managing a retirement community or senior living setting.
