BI Developer

Overview

Ardonagh Europe is hiring a Business Intelligence Developer to join the Arachas Data team in Dublin. This role is focused on turning business data into clear, actionable insight through strong analytics, data modelling, and dashboarding. You will partner with colleagues across the business and within the data function to answer reporting needs, create analytical outputs, and support the company’s wider data strategy.

What you will do

• Create and support Power BI semantic models with an emphasis on star, snowflake, and dimensional modelling approaches.
• Design, build, and update Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Write advanced DAX measures and calculated columns to support business logic and deeper analysis.
• Develop and tune SQL transformations within a medallion structure covering bronze, silver, and gold layers.
• Work with teams across functions to understand requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.
• Safeguard data quality, consistency, and governance across platforms and reporting outputs.
• Use current Power BI capabilities such as deployment pipelines, dataflows, composite models, DirectQuery and Import modes, and Microsoft Fabric integration.
• Improve performance and help manage workspace governance effectively.
• Design and apply row-level security controls so that data access remains aligned to user roles and attributes.
• Prepare management information of a high standard and present recommendations within tight deadlines.
• Build trusted relationships with stakeholders so data is interpreted, checked, and refined correctly.
• Develop a strong understanding of the business and its operations to identify meaningful insights for different stakeholders.
• Build and maintain data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric tools, including Azure Data Factory, Lakehouse, OneLake, notebooks, and pipelines.

Experience and qualifications

You should hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or mathematics, and bring 3–5+ years of experience in a Data or BI Engineer-type role. Practical experience with Microsoft Power BI, Synapse, Microsoft Azure, and Fabric is important. Strong capability in Power BI and SQL is required, and Python, especially PySpark, would be an advantage. Experience with Azure data services such as Data Factory and Synapse Analytics is also expected, along with a solid grasp of data modelling, ETL/ELT, and data warehousing.

Working style

The ideal candidate is an independent subject matter expert who can work on their own initiative and deliver solutions that reflect best practice. A proactive, can-do approach is important, along with the ability to quickly understand the Arachas organisation and technical landscape. You should also be confident building relationships and managing executive-level internal and external stakeholders professionally.

Preferred background

Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Azure Data Engineering, or Microsoft Fabric are preferred. Additional value will come from experience in Power BI and DAX performance tuning, familiarity with data mesh or data fabric concepts, and exposure to machine learning workflows and AI integrations.
