Role overview
This position is for a CAD Designer who will develop precise piping and instrumentation diagrams, along with related layouts and design drawings, using AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD, and Inventor. The role is suited to someone with intermediate design experience in industrial or process facility settings who can collaborate closely with an engineering team.
Key duties
- Use AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD, and Inventor to assist with facility and piping design work.
- Prepare new P&IDs, update existing diagrams, and produce layout and design drawings.
- Work with engineering and design colleagues to clarify project scope, requirements, and specifications.
- Read technical drawings, sketches, and engineering redlines to build accurate design packages.
- Coordinate design input across process, mechanical, electrical, and I&C teams.
- Revise drawings to incorporate design updates and engineering changes.
- Verify that drawings meet project standards and design criteria.
- Carry out quality checks on finished drawings and deliverables.
- Take part in design review discussions and help support project schedule targets.
Requirements
- High school diploma is required; an associate degree or higher is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and AutoCAD in an industrial or process design environment.
- Exposure to Inventor or similar 3D modeling tools.
- Intermediate-level design experience is preferred.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and engineering sketches accurately.
- Strong detail orientation and good organizational ability.
- Comfort working within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Background in chemical, industrial, manufacturing, or process facility design is preferred.
- Experience with DOE market segments is an added advantage.
- US citizenship is required for client projects.
- Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
