Heritage Lifecare is hiring a full-time Caregiver for Carter House Lifecare and Village in Te Puke, Bay of Plenty. This position is focused on delivering high-quality, compassionate support to residents in a caring home and village setting, helping create a safe, warm, and respectful environment.

Heritage Lifecare is a major aged-care provider in New Zealand and the country’s largest dementia care provider. The organisation continues to grow and currently operates 42 care homes and 20 villages across New Zealand, from Whangarei to Invercargill. What the role involves

This is a permanent full-time position of 32 or more hours per week. The hourly pay rate is $31.23. Work will involve AM, PM, night, and weekend shifts.

The successful applicant will help ensure residents receive thoughtful, patient, and dignified care, while contributing to a positive atmosphere and supporting residents’ day-to-day wellbeing.

Skills and experience needed

Applicants should ideally bring prior caregiving experience, preferably in aged care. A strong interpersonal approach, clear communication, problem-solving ability, and a genuine commitment to helping others are essential. A customer-focused attitude, friendliness, patience, and an ongoing interest in improving care and safety practices are also important.

Qualified candidates will hold at least NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, or an equivalent New Zealand or overseas qualification such as a Bachelor of Nursing or Diploma in Nursing. At least six months’ experience in a caregiving or similar role is required.
