Descrizione del lavoro
Role overview
This position serves as a senior civil and structural engineering lead on a power generation and desalination project. The successful candidate will provide independent technical oversight of the contractor’s civil and structural design work from the start of the assignment through to completion, ensuring that all deliverables meet the required engineering standards.
The role covers the full range of civil and structural deliverables for a major power and desalination facility, including challenging onshore and marine assets. A strong command of design review, verification, approval, and scope development is essential.
Key technical focus areas
The engineer will ensure that designs are fit for purpose for site development, dynamic equipment foundations, very large prestressed potable water storage structures, large drainage and earthworks systems, switching stations, and electrical yards. Deep design knowledge of these assets is expected, along with the ability to define work scopes and provide assurance for engineered components.
Required background
- At least 15 years of post-qualification experience is required, with a minimum of 10 years gained on power plant, oil and gas, or other heavy industrial projects.
- Experience should include plant site development such as roads, earthworks, complex drainage networks, utility-scale power facilities, and foundations for heavy turbines and generators.
- Hands-on design exposure to large prestressed potable water retaining structures, as well as large seawater tanks and settlement basins, is needed.
- The role also requires experience in nearshore and marine civil works, including seawater intake and brine discharge systems, coastal protection, and related infrastructure.
- The candidate must have developed scopes for geotechnical and topographical investigations and be able to interpret the resulting reports.
- Support during construction on major projects is important, especially in resolving difficult civil and structural issues during execution.
- Experience across concept, feasibility, FEED, and EPIC stages is expected.
- Working knowledge of US and European civil and structural design standards is required.
- Strong independent problem-solving ability is essential, including the capacity to address complex engineering matters without external support.
- The role demands strong control of time, cost, and quality in a multi-project setting.
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills are necessary, along with proven experience in multicultural teams.
Education
