About the role
This cleaning position is located at Hagley Catholic High School in Hagley, England. Working hours are 6:00am to 8:30am, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. Because the job is tied to a school setting, annual leave cannot be taken during term time. A full enhanced DBS check is required and will be arranged by the company.
The role is designed around a 48.2-week working pattern. Most hours align with term-time operations, with extra time worked during school holidays, especially across the summer, to support deep cleaning and readiness for the new academic year. Pay is annualised and spread evenly across 12 monthly instalments, so monthly pay remains consistent even when fewer hours are worked.
What the job involves
- Perform routine cleaning tasks to site standards, such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, wiping down surfaces, and removing waste.
- Clean washrooms, offices, corridors, welfare spaces, classrooms, and other assigned areas to the expected standard.
- Restock consumables including toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap when needed.
- Follow health and safety, hygiene, and COSHH procedures at all times.
- Use cleaning tools, equipment, and materials safely and appropriately.
- Escalate maintenance defects, damage, or hazards to the relevant supervisor.
- Work methodically to finish tasks within the agreed timeframes.
- Maintain a polite, professional manner with clients, colleagues, and visitors.
- Carry out any location-specific cleaning duties requested by the manager.
What we are looking for
- Permission to work in the UK and willingness to complete a DBS check.
- Previous cleaning experience in a commercial, public sector, or similar environment is helpful, though not essential.
- Practical knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and materials.
- Understanding of hygiene expectations and health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
- A dependable, punctual, and adaptable approach.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
Desirable experience
- Background in facilities management or contract cleaning.
- Awareness of COSHH or safe handling of cleaning chemicals, with training available where needed.
