About the Role
This position is for an experienced Commercial Operations Manager to support the MRO Programs Department in Qatar. The role is centered on overseeing the commercial delivery of third-party Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul contracts, with responsibility for both execution and customer-facing coordination.
The position is suited to aviation professionals who combine MRO operational knowledge, commercial judgment, and strong relationship-management skills. You will act as the main commercial contact for active maintenance events, helping ensure services are delivered as agreed, contracts remain compliant, costs stay controlled, profitability is protected, and turnaround targets are met. The role involves close coordination with technical, engineering, planning, operations, finance, CAMO, and customer stakeholders to keep maintenance programs running smoothly and to support a strong customer experience. You will also assess new business opportunities, contribute to commercial decisions, and ensure alignment with MRO and CAMO requirements as well as wider business goals.
This is an opportunity to influence both operational execution and commercial results, while contributing to customer success, business expansion, and the growth of the organization’s MRO capabilities.
Commercial and Contract Execution
- Take ownership of the commercial side of third-party maintenance activities and ensure they support broader MRO objectives.
- Oversee the daily commercial progress of maintenance events, including heavy checks, component repairs, modifications, and technical support work.
- Follow contract milestones, turnaround times, and customer commitments from start to finish.
- Assess defect hours, extra work requests, variation orders, and the financial implications of each.
- Make sure contractual duties, service levels, and commercial promises are delivered as required.
Maintenance Planning and Coordination
- Work with Production Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, and CAMO teams to review capability and capacity for new maintenance opportunities.
- Examine customer work packages and engineering requests to determine feasibility, available resources, and profitability.
- Recommend whether new maintenance work should be accepted based on operational, financial, and resource factors.
- Flag schedule changes and help drive corrective actions with the appropriate stakeholders.
Customer and Stakeholder Management
- Act as the main commercial contact for customers during maintenance events.
- Set and manage customer expectations through clear communication, timely updates, and proactive issue handling.
- Take part in customer reviews, operational meetings, and performance discussions.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with airline customers and internal teams.
Financial and Business Performance
- Monitor event costs, income opportunities, and profitability throughout the maintenance cycle.
- Prepare dashboards, status reports, and management summaries for leadership review.
- Support pricing decisions, business case preparation, profitability analysis, and customer growth activities.
- Spot areas where commercial performance can be improved and propose data-backed solutions.
Leadership and Team Development
- Guide, coach, and develop team members to strengthen operational and commercial performance.
- Encourage a collaborative, customer-oriented approach across cross-functional teams.
- Support talent development, succession planning, and broader capability-building efforts.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and have at least 7 years of job-related experience, or a high school/diploma qualification or equivalent with at least 6 years of job-related experience.
In addition, candidates must have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in MRO, airline maintenance, or aviation commercial work.
