Role overview

Amazon Web Services is seeking an experienced Document Controller to support the EMEA Pre-Construction team in Dubai. This role sits within a diverse, collaborative group focused on delivering data center construction projects that are energy-efficient, cost-effective, and critical to customer service. You will work closely with teams across Engineering, Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, Commissioning, Real Estate, and Design Engineering to keep construction documentation accurate, compliant, and ready for use across the project lifecycle.

What you will do

  • Review documents to confirm they are accurate and aligned with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate several documentation workstreams at once, working with stakeholders to keep deliverables consistent and complete.
  • Administer user access, security groups, and system permissions, and train employees on the document management platform.
  • Plan and support training activities for internal and external partners, while providing hands-on operational assistance.
  • Collect input from stakeholders and convert it into practical guidance and process improvements that address customer needs.
  • Support project closeout activities, including archiving, filing, and processing documentation.
  • Partner with technical teams to improve and refine technical documentation quality.
  • Manage engineering and architectural specifications, design drawings, and permit submission packages.
  • Help construction managers assemble full handover documentation, including drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Maintain site-based document repositories and ensure files are uploaded correctly.
  • Run documentation workflows while protecting sensitive and confidential information.
  • Prepare ad hoc project reports and represent the document control function in team meetings.
  • Create standardized procedures and carry out audits to verify compliance.
  • Ensure redline changes are incorporated into as-built drawings issued to the owner.
  • Confirm that Operations and Maintenance manuals and warranties are delivered to the owner with complete status details, terms, and contact information.

Day-to-day focus

In this position, you will help ensure construction documentation is delivered on time while continuously improving document control processes and quality standards. You will coordinate across departments, work with both frontline and senior managers, review documents, check compliance, identify gaps in workflow, and drive issues through to resolution as the main escalation point for documentation matters.

Team environment

The Pre-Construction team is multicultural and international, and it contributes to the development of design standards across regional construction programs. The team produces clear, consistent documentation for processes, standards, and procedures, and acts as the key link between Real Estate, Design Engineering, Construction, and other partner groups from site selection through the start of construction.

Required qualifications

  • A master’s degree or higher in engineering, or an equivalent background, with 4+ years of construction or project management experience.
  • At least 4 years of construction or project management experience, or 4+ years of relevant discipline experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a construction document controller on large commercial, mission-critical, or industrial projects.
  • Experience using construction and design management tools such as Autodesk BIM 360, Bluebeam, and Procore.

Preferred background

  • Prior exposure to construction or project management environments.
  • Experience handling large, fast-moving file sets, including workflow coordination, file movement, and permissions management.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments at once while staying focused on deadlines and handling confidential information professionally, including when dealing with senior executives.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills for smooth interaction with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications across disciplines.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing and project schedules.
  • Strong organizational and analytical ability, including experience developing functional and technical specifications.
