Role overview
This opportunity is being handled on behalf of a partner employer, which will review applications and manage the remaining hiring stages. The company is seeking a Construction Project Director based in Ireland.
In this senior leadership role, you will carry complete strategic and operational accountability for the successful delivery of large, high-value construction programmes across Europe. The position combines project execution, team leadership, and client-facing responsibility, and calls for both strong technical knowledge and executive oversight.
You will manage multidisciplinary delivery teams and coordinate complex building envelope work, with a focus on roofing, cladding, and façade packages.
Working closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and senior leaders, you will help ensure projects progress smoothly from early planning through final completion.
The role also requires you to improve operational efficiency, control risk, and protect profitability across several live projects at once.
Because this is a highly visible leadership position, your decisions will have a direct impact on delivery outcomes, client experience, and overall business growth.
Key responsibilities
- Set the direction for construction teams while maintaining strong standards for efficiency, cost discipline, and project profitability.
- Lead delivery across the full project lifecycle, including planning, resourcing, execution, and handover.
- Build detailed programmes of work with critical paths, milestones, and resourcing plans for multiple sites across Europe.
- Organise international project logistics, covering workforce deployment, travel, accommodation, permits, and HSE compliance.
- Make sure all work aligns with design intent, quality benchmarks, safety requirements, and contractual commitments.
- Maintain productive relationships with clients and stakeholders through clear, ongoing communication.
- Track commercial and operational risks, and act quickly to escalate and resolve issues.
- Oversee site progress records, governance documentation, and reporting so senior leaders can make informed decisions.
- Participate in executive discussions and provide strategic updates and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of senior experience in construction project management or leadership, ideally within roofing, cladding, façade, or similar building envelope sectors.
- A degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Science, or another relevant technical field.
- A proven history of delivering medium to large construction projects successfully across multiple locations or regions.
- Strong technical understanding of roofing, cladding, façade systems, construction methods, and health and safety requirements.
- Solid commercial judgement, including budgeting, cost control, and the factors that influence profitability.
- Well-developed leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills in complex environments.
- Strong planning and organisational capability, with experience managing several projects at the same time.
- Good command of Microsoft Office; familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Project is beneficial.
- A client-first mindset, with strong communication and negotiation ability.
- Ability to adapt, stay resilient, and work comfortably in fast-moving international project settings.
- A valid driver’s licence and fluency in English.
- Must be based in the UK, Ireland, or Mainland Europe.
Benefits
- Private medical insurance.
- Pension or retirement savings support.
- Paid leave and annual holiday entitlement.
- Flexible or hybrid working, depending on project requirements.
- Training and professional development to support career growth.
- Performance-linked bonus opportunity.
- The chance to lead major international construction projects across Europe.
- Senior-level autonomy and meaningful influence over strategic project and business decisions.
