About the role

This position supports package pickup and delivery operations for a major Canadian freight, parcel, and logistics company with more than six decades of service. The role is centered on keeping customer commitments on track by moving shipments reliably, handling route coverage when other couriers are unavailable, and helping maintain day-to-day service continuity.

Shift and location

The schedule runs Monday to Friday for 40 hours per week, with flexibility needed for different shifts. The job is based at 2245 Douglas Rd, Burnaby, BC. The posting also references location 542 - Burnaby. Work takes place both on the road and in a warehouse environment.

Compensation

Starting pay is $22.12 per hour. After 3 months, the wage increases to $25.07 per hour.

What you will do

• Collect and deliver customer parcels according to the required pickup and delivery timetable.
• Use scanning tools to track packages and mail when received, delivered, or returned to the depot at day’s end.
• Work with Dispatch and customers to handle issues that come up during route operations.
• Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks using a package scanner and the electronic Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (E-DVIR).
• Alert the unit manager if an inspection identifies a vehicle issue.
• Provide coverage for absent couriers across different shifts when needed.

What you need

• High school completion is required.
• Completion of vocational and business courses typically offered at the high school level is expected.
• A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required, along with a clean driving abstract.
• Ability to communicate in English is mandatory due to frequent operational interactions.
• Capability to handle physical work, including lifting and lowering up to 70 pounds.
• Comfort with long periods of sitting, standing, climbing, and driving.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and readiness to deal with challenging situations.

Working conditions

The role involves extended driving, concentrated focus over long periods, and exposure to confrontational situations at times. Duties are performed in both road and warehouse settings.
