Role Overview
The position focuses on creating and developing plastic trim components for passenger cars across international programs. The work spans exterior and interior areas such as bumpers, tailgates, lighting parts, body claddings, interior trims, instrument panel-related parts, and floor consoles.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and refine plastic trim designs for passenger vehicle applications.
- Review inputs from client-side engineers and carry out design work with limited oversight.
- Work closely with cross-functional groups and suppliers to keep deliverables on track.
- Take part in design discussions, reviews, and coordination meetings to meet program targets.
- Guide a small team of 2 to 3 members for a specific perimeter or program.
Technical Requirements
- B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
- 3 to 9 years of experience in plastic product design for automotive applications.
- Hands-on knowledge of CATIA V5, NX, Teamcenter, and Windchill.
- Strong understanding of new product development, plastic materials, and manufacturing methods.
- Sound grasp of plastic design rules and tooling basics.
- Ability to perform regulatory checks on styling surfaces for passenger and pedestrian safety, including ECE-26.
- Knowledge of automotive safety standards such as ECE and FMVSS is preferred.
- Experience with assembly management and OEM drawing preparation will be an added advantage.
- Prior exposure to European or American clients with sensitivity to cross-cultural working styles.
- Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
Additional Information
This role requires close coordination with onsite engineers and clients to clearly interpret requirements and deliver design solutions accordingly.
