About the Role

Join Mako’s equity trading team as an Equity Analyst, working alongside experienced senior traders and analysts. The role is focused on helping identify risks and opportunities in equity markets to support durable performance over both the short and long term.

You will support the firm’s long-term equity strategy as well as the special situations desk by producing research that is useful, precise, and directly actionable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed research across sectors, individual equities, and thematic ideas, going deeper than consensus views to develop your own insights.
  • Develop investment cases from first principles, including industry structure, competitive positioning, and differences between market expectations and reality.
  • Identify important catalysts, risk drivers, and turning points across covered stocks and themes, and assess their potential impact.
  • Build and maintain financial models, valuation tools, and proprietary data sets.
  • Monitor longer-term shifts such as technology changes, regulation, and macroeconomic developments, then convert those trends into clear equity views.
  • Improve research workflows continuously and look for more efficient, scalable ways to create an information edge.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong analytical ability and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to focus on what matters most and avoid unnecessary noise.
  • Strong curiosity and enthusiasm for equities and market research.
  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
  • Prior exposure to front office, trading, or other markets-related work; experience with US equities is helpful but not essential.
