HTML and CSS Developer

Role overview

In this remote HTML/CSS contractor position, you will review AI-produced HTML, CSS, UI layouts, and technical write-ups, then create strong reference solutions and clear step-by-step reasoning for frontend tasks. The work centers on checking whether outputs are accurate, easy to understand, accessible, responsive, compatible across browsers, and aligned with the original prompt.

You will also inspect semantic HTML, layout systems such as Flexbox and Grid, responsive behavior, CSS architecture, cascade and specificity conflicts, and performance considerations. In addition, part of the role includes validating technical details, writing best-practice explanations, and comparing multiple AI answers based on correctness and reasoning quality.

Company and engagement

This is a fully remote, hourly paid contractor opportunity with SME Careers, an AI data services company and a subsidiary of SuperAnnotate. The organization supplies training data to major AI companies and foundation model teams, so your frontend expertise will help improve large-scale AI systems used by developers around the world.

Important note

There is no active project available right now. If you are a fit, you may be contacted first when a relevant assignment opens up. Qualification also places you in the expert network for future opportunities.

Key work areas

• Build prompts and reference answers for HTML and CSS topics to support AI training.
• Review and score AI-generated responses for semantic accuracy, accessibility, responsiveness, and visual quality.
• Check AI outputs for errors, weak reasoning, or unsafe guidance, and confirm that the solutions hold up in real frontend scenarios.

Candidate profile

• You should hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Design, HCI, or a similar discipline, or bring equivalent hands-on experience.
• At least 4 years of professional experience building production interfaces with semantic HTML and modern CSS are required.
• You need advanced command of layout techniques such as Flexbox and Grid, plus responsive and component-based styling methods.
• Strong accessibility knowledge is expected, including semantic structure, basic ARIA use, keyboard navigation, focus handling, and WCAG-aware design.
• You should understand browser fundamentals such as the box model, stacking context, positioning, rendering quirks, and cross-browser testing.
• Experience with maintainable CSS practices, including naming systems like BEM, design tokens, variables, theming, and specificity control, is important.
• Familiarity with modern styling tools such as Sass, PostCSS, Tailwind, CSS Modules, or styled systems is helpful, though the core focus remains HTML/CSS correctness.
• Excellent written and spoken English at a minimum C1 level is necessary so you can produce clear technical explanations and follow detailed instructions.
• You should have a track record of detailed code reviews and of upholding UI quality standards for accessibility, responsiveness, and maintainability.
• Experience with AI data training, annotation, or review of AI-generated technical content will be considered a strong advantage.
• A careful, systematic, and highly detail-focused working style is essential for spotting subtle UI and reasoning issues.
