TITLE: Junior Officer-ILHBS
DESCRIPTION:
Role overview
This position supports inline hold baggage screening operations at Guwahati airport. The selected professional will step in to oversee screeners during a shift whenever the Shift In charge is unavailable, while maintaining high standards of punctuality, discipline, operational control, and coordination with internal teams. The role also contributes to security compliance, reporting, and smooth day-to-day functioning of ILHBS activities.
Key responsibilities
- Take charge of screener supervision during the shift when the Shift In charge is not present, and maintain strong standards in performance, discipline, people handling, and coordination with stakeholders.
- Make sure every piece of hold baggage is screened at the designated ILHBSS locations without exception.
- Follow BCAS and DGCA security requirements fully and assist in running ILHBS operations efficiently.
- Support the Shift In charge in preparing MIS and other management reports.
- Work closely with internal teams to keep airport operations running smoothly.
- Track and supervise all active ILHBS work to ensure continuity of service.
- Enforce organizational discipline and uphold Adani standards among team members.
- Help deliver business objectives in line with the organization’s vision, mission, and core values.
Performance expectations
- Maintain records of incidents and any security lapses related to inline baggage screening, along with the corrective actions taken.
- Prepare shift reports accurately and efficiently on daily, weekly, and monthly cycles.
- Ensure complete adherence to BCAS and DGCA guidelines, with no compliance gaps.
- Apply company policy and HOD instructions fairly, including judicious leave management so that operations remain sufficiently staffed.
- Draft incident reports with precision.
- Handle briefings, debriefings, and circulation of alert messages effectively.
- Support uninterrupted and efficient ILHBS performance.
Stakeholder coordination
This role involves interaction with both external and internal stakeholders to support daily operations.
- Coordinate with ASG for physical baggage checks and related security matters.
- Liaise with local police in case arms or ammunition are detected in hold baggage during screening.
- Work with BCAS during audits, inspections, and tests.
- Coordinate with service providers, including OEMs of CT-EDS, X-BIS, and ETD equipment for maintenance support.
- Support OMP management and baggage handling system coordination.
- Work with Terminal Operations during contingencies or when airline coordination is required.
- Engage with IT for maintenance-related support.
Eligibility and qualifications
The role requires a graduate with strong communication skills. A minimum of 5 years of AVSEC experience is preferred, ideally including prior work in ILHBS at an airport.
Certifications and technical knowledge
- BCAS AVSEC Basic Course is preferred, and an AVSEC Management course is an added advantage.
- BCAS certification for Standalone or Inline Screeners is preferred.
- NCC “C” or “B” certificate holders are preferred.
- DGCA-approved DGR CAT 12 certification is required.
- Working knowledge of security automation and development is needed.
- Understanding of ILHBSS equipment operations and working principles is required.
