Junior Software Engineer

Role overview

This is a long-term contract opportunity with a major global technology leader. The position is based in Singapore, but applicants from other APAC countries will also be considered. You will begin working remotely from home while your Singapore work permit is being processed, which typically takes 15 to 30 days, and then relocate to Singapore.

What you'll do

• Develop, maintain, and improve code that is efficient, dependable, secure, and easy to reuse.
• Create software solutions that can run across different platforms.
• Keep engineering quality high by choosing simple, well-designed approaches and avoiding unnecessary complexity.
• Build automated tests and support frequent incremental releases through a continuous delivery pipeline.
• Refine, tune, and extend existing programs, algorithms, and services.
• Encourage strong engineering standards, sound design decisions, and reliable development practices within the team.

What the role needs

• At least 2 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Ability to produce professional-quality code with clean structure and strong design.
• Deep experience with one or more of C++, Rust, or Go, along with related tooling such as compilers and cross-platform development tools.
• Solid understanding of software architecture principles, including design patterns, object-oriented programming, and service architecture.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Experience with DDD and TDD is highly preferred.
• Background in agile teams, CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, and automated deployment workflows.
• Experience working inside very large codebases, including making improvements and fixing issues in legacy code.
• Strong attention to detail.
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Technical exposure includes Rust, Python, Windows and Linux, CMake, NuGet, Jenkins, AWS, Git, and GitHub.

Location and work arrangement
