Role Overview
The Pump Room in Bath is seeking a Kitchen Porter to help keep the venue running smoothly on a day-to-day basis. The Georgian Pump Room has been a central part of Bath’s social life for over 200 years and has welcomed notable guests such as Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.
Working Pattern and Pay
This position is offered on an hours-as-required basis. The hourly rate is £12.71, with Tronc included.

Main Duties
- Assist with food preparation under the guidance of the chefs
- Keep kitchen and restaurant spaces clean, orderly, and ready for use
- Deliver a courteous, efficient, and hygienic service to guests
- Be willing to work across kitchens, serveries, staff dining areas, and external reception spaces
- Maintain the highest level of cleanliness and safety across kitchen and service areas on all floors
- Adapt to working in different sections of the kitchen as needed
- Ensure all catering storage areas remain tidy, clean, and well organised
- Receive, check, store, move, issue, or dispose of goods and equipment as required
- Support food preparation and service when needed
- Immediately report accidents, incidents, fire, theft, loss, damage, unsuitable food, or any other irregularities and take appropriate action
- Notify the Executive Chef or Head Chef of any faulty equipment
Candidate Profile
Experience in a kitchen or cleaning-related role is helpful but not mandatory. The role suits someone who can work effectively in a busy, high-pressure environment, pays close attention to cleanliness and hygiene, works well in a team, and communicates clearly.
