Job summary
The main purpose of this position is to generate leads that can be converted into sales.
Key responsibilities
The role combines retail sales, customer support, and disciplined compliance with banking standards.
- Identify customer needs and convert them into sales by promoting and cross-selling consumer lending products to achieve agreed targets.
- Carry out active, field-based lead generation and follow up on prospects to improve conversion rates.
- Review completed application documents for different products and submit them to the line manager after confirming they meet policy requirements.
- Follow operational controls and regulatory expectations, including health and safety, premises security, know-your-customer checks, and anti-money laundering rules.
- Deliver prompt and high-quality customer service in line with the bank’s values and internal policies.
- Handle customer questions, complaints, and product applications within service standards, escalating unresolved matters to the line manager when needed.
- Work closely with internal teams such as operations, the KYC helpdesk, and the credit unit to speed up resolution of queries and application processing.
- Take part in learning and development activities assigned to support continuous improvement.
- Agree performance goals with the line manager, including specific sales targets.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree relevant to the role.
- Experience in frontline banking sales, marketing, or customer service.
- Comfort with proactive sales activity and frequent field work to pitch to potential customers.
- Strong knowledge of local banking rules and regulations.
- Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal ability.
- Confident selling, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
- Strong presentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Team-oriented approach and a clear sales focus.
- Advantageous: first class or second class degree, credit in mathematics and English at O level, at least two principal passes at A level, and experience selling competitor products.
- Advantageous: familiarity with banking products and services, understanding of bank operations, experience in financial services, and an innovative mindset.
- Further Education and Training Certificate in Business, Commerce and Management Studies is required.
