Role Overview
Leigh & Co. Events is a growing wedding planning company offering wedding design, coordination, and planning support for engaged couples. This contract opportunity is for a Lead Wedding Coordinator who will act as a lead planner at weddings, mainly on location. The company provides training, and the role is available for the 2026 season and beyond.
The position is project-based, with pay of $400 for approximately 10 to 12 hours of work per wedding. You will be able to choose your own schedule.
What You Will Do
- Join the final planning call with clients about six weeks before the wedding to review the timeline, logistics, and overall expectations.
- Run and organize the rehearsal the day before the wedding so everyone understands the ceremony order, timing, and key cues.
- Act as the couple’s main onsite advocate, staying composed and solution-oriented while handling any issues that come up.
- Supervise ceremony and reception setup so it matches the approved design and day-of execution plan.
- Manage the wedding from vendor arrival through the final breakdown at the end of the evening.
- Welcome vendors, guide them on site, and serve as the central point of contact.
- Give clear setup instructions to vendors to keep execution aligned with the event plan.
- Help place personal and event items such as escort cards, menus, table numbers, favors, the guest book, and decorative elements.
- Support the wedding party and family with timing, direction, and day-of assistance as needed.
- Make sure all end-of-event belongings, including gifts, guest book, and personal décor, are packed and properly tracked.
- Handle unexpected changes and last-minute problems quickly to keep the guest experience running smoothly.
Requirements
- Weekend availability is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in wedding planning or event planning is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with close attention to detail, are essential.
- You must have dependable transportation.
- You should be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
Additional Information
This is a contract role based onsite in Chicago, IL. The work is hands-on and primarily involves direct event execution. Training is included, and the company is looking for candidates who can join for the 2026 season and continue beyond it.
Compensation
The pay is $400 per project for an estimated 10 to 12 hours of work.
