Role overview
Marina Bay Sands is looking for a Lifeguard to support the safety, cleanliness, and smooth operation of its pool and recreation areas in Singapore. The role involves keeping a constant watch over guests, responding quickly to emergencies, and maintaining a high standard of service and presentation.
Key duties
- Keep continuous watch over guests in the facility and respond right away when safety risks or emergencies arise.
- Deliver emergency first aid and treatment until medical professionals arrive.
- Use personal protective equipment correctly while giving first aid.
- Complete and maintain incident documentation accurately.
- Present a polished appearance and professional attitude at all times while delivering excellent guest service.
- Help keep the pool area, pool deck, and turnstiles clean, orderly, and well maintained.
- Coordinate with the Pools & Recreation management team and relevant departments to make sure guest requests are handled properly.
- Understand the procedures for closing the area during severe weather or other adverse conditions.
- Be familiar with all Pools & Recreation procedures, including fire safety and emergency response processes.
- Observe activity in the SkyPark and escalate any suspicious people, objects, or behavior to the manager.
- Work with other departments to understand their workflows and help create a seamless guest experience.
- Stay informed about the local area and major events so suitable recommendations can be shared with guests.
- Follow OSHA safety guidance and workplace safety practices.
- Comply with departmental and company benchmark standards.
- Attend training sessions, scheduled meetings, and daily briefings as required.
- Handle administrative tasks such as report filing when needed.
- Share ideas to improve Pools & Recreation operations and support department objectives.
- Carry out any other responsibilities assigned by management.
Education, certification, and experience
- Secondary school education is preferred.
- A Basic Lifesaving 1 to 3 certificate is required.
- A Bronze Medallion certificate is required.
- Experience in a hotel or resort environment will be an added advantage.
Other requirements
- Availability for rotating shifts, including mornings and afternoons, as well as public holidays, is necessary.
- Must remain composed and effective in emergency situations.
- Should be proficient in lifeguard surveillance and rescue methods.
- Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures is needed.
- Must be able to follow routine spoken and written instructions.
- Good understanding of customer service standards and procedures is expected.
- Should work well with limited supervision.
- Strong spoken and written English skills are needed for guest communication and reporting.
- Must be a collaborative team player who can also take initiative when supporting colleagues.
- Needs a strong sense of ownership, reliability, and a positive can-do attitude.
- Must maintain a neat, well-groomed, and professional appearance.
