Role overview
Virtusa is seeking an experienced Oracle PL/SQL specialist in Hyderabad to build and support scalable database solutions. The role focuses on strong database design, advanced Oracle development, and performance-oriented engineering to align technical output with business needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, deploy, and maintain PL/SQL code for sophisticated database-driven applications.
- Improve database efficiency by applying indexing methods, writing well-structured SQL, and tuning stored procedures.
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs and convert them into technical solutions.
- Investigate and resolve issues affecting database performance, data integrity, and security.
- Create resilient, scalable, and high-performing Oracle database designs.
- Build data models, schemas, and database architecture that support business goals.
- Develop and support PL/SQL procedures, packages, triggers, and functions.
- Write complex SQL logic and optimize data-processing workflows for performance.
- Build integrations using Oracle APIs, web services, and middleware tools.
- Implement and manage advanced Oracle capabilities such as RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, partitioning, indexing, and Advanced Queuing.
- Monitor database health, identify bottlenecks, and carry out capacity planning and health checks.
Requirements
- 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in Oracle PL/SQL development.
- Strong practical knowledge of triggers, packages, and stored procedures.
- Experience with indexing approaches, including partitioning, to improve query performance.
- Demonstrated ability to tune stored procedures and optimize database performance.
- Working knowledge of advanced Oracle technologies and best practices for scalability, security, and performance.
- Ability to translate functional requirements into technical database solutions.
