Role Overview
Good Spirit School Division 204 is seeking a permanent, full-time caretaker for P.J. Gillen School in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. This role helps maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming environment across school facilities and grounds.
Assignment and Schedule
This position is set at 8 hours per day, beginning July 8, 2026.
What the Role Involves
The caretaker will handle routine cleaning, upkeep, and general maintenance to support the daily operation of the school.
- Carry out general janitorial work for the school.
- Sweep, mop, and remove garbage as needed.
- Sanitize surfaces and maintain cleanliness standards.
- Support the general care and upkeep of the building and surrounding grounds.
- Complete additional tasks assigned by the Principal or Caretaker Coordinator, including duties outlined in the Facilities: Caretaker job description.
Qualifications and Expectations
The ideal candidate should have at least Grade 10 education or an equivalent level of schooling. A strong sense of pride in maintaining a tidy, functioning facility is important. Previous experience in caretaking is an advantage, and the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others is valued.
Pay and Benefits
Compensation will follow the CUPE 4784 Collective Agreement. The hourly wage is between $20.16 and $24.06, and pay is issued monthly. Vacation time accrues according to the applicable rate. Eligible employees may participate in the Saskatchewan School Board Association (SSBA) Employee Benefits Plan. The position may also allow enrollment in the Municipal Employees' Pension Plan, if chosen, and access to professional development seminars.
Additional Requirements
Applicants who are not currently employed by GSSD must provide a recent criminal record check and vulnerable sector check, both issued within the past six months, and they must be acceptable to the Board of Education before an employment offer can be finalized.
