About the role
Norton House Hotel & Spa in Newbridge, near Edinburgh, is looking for a friendly and energetic Porter to join its team. The property is part of Hand Picked Hotels and combines traditional Scottish character with modern luxury in a historic 19th-century manor house setting.
This position supports the guest journey from arrival to departure, helping to create a smooth, welcoming, and memorable stay. The team culture is collaborative and supportive, with an emphasis on service quality, consistency, and personal development.
What you will do
As a Porter, you will often be the first team member guests meet. Your role will focus on warm welcomes, helpful guidance, and practical support that makes each stay feel effortless.
- Greet guests and engage with them throughout their stay in a professional, approachable manner.
- Assist with guest arrivals, luggage handling, and orientation around the hotel.
- Share useful recommendations about the hotel, local area, and nearby attractions.
- Work closely with colleagues across departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Contribute to a consistently high standard of personalised service and guest satisfaction.
Working pattern
This is a permanent full-time position, working 40 hours per week across 5 days out of 7, including weekends on a rota basis. Hours may vary depending on business needs, and flexible arrangements can be made where possible.
Pay and benefits
The starting pay is £13 per hour, plus a share of service charge. Pay reviews are available and are linked to commitment and performance.
