Royal Mail is hiring a Postie / Postal Delivery Driver for its Andover Delivery Office. This is a permanent position where you will support the local community by sorting and delivering letters and parcels, while representing a trusted national service. Job details

Work location: Andover Delivery Office, SP10 1AA. Employment is on a permanent contract. The pay rate is £13.68 per hour, with monthly pay and the option to earn overtime. The schedule is 37 hours per week, spread over 5 days out of 7 between Monday and Sunday, typically from 07:30 to 15:30. Shifts rotate, some weekends are included, and Sunday working at the Andover Delivery Office may be required when needed. Your rota will set your hours and delivery routes, which can change depending on demand.

What the role involves

• Preparing letters and parcels at the delivery office before heading out on route
• Making deliveries on foot and by van around your local area
• Building friendly, dependable relationships with customers
• Working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Handling letters, parcels, and time-sensitive items such as exam results, birthday cards, business deliveries, election materials, and other important items

What to expect

This is a busy, physically demanding role that can be fast-paced, especially during peak periods. The job may involve walking long distances of up to 12 miles or more than 20,000 steps in a day, driving a Royal Mail van every day, spending long periods outside, and delivering both letters and large parcel volumes under time pressure.

About you

Royal Mail will provide training, a uniform, and a red van. To be successful, you should hold a full manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points, registered in your current name and address, and be prepared to pass a driving assessment. You should also be physically fit enough for long walks, stairs, hills, and lifting or carrying mailbags of 10 kg or more. The ideal candidate is organised, dependable, self-driven, resilient in a busy environment, comfortable working alone, and committed to excellent customer service.

Additional information
