About the Role
Tata Elxsi is seeking a motivated Power Electronics Engineer to join its Bangalore team. This opportunity is suited for someone with strong technical depth in power conversion, simulation, validation, and product development, along with a drive to work on advanced industrial electronics.
Location and Experience
Bengaluru (Bangalore), Karnataka, India. The role calls for 4 to 9 years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves designing and validating power electronics systems across the product lifecycle, from concept through bring-up and testing. The engineer will be expected to work on both isolated and non-isolated converter designs, carry out simulation and calculation tasks, and support compliance-related validation.
Technical Work Scope
- Develop complex power converters, including isolated and non-isolated topologies, ideally for industrial use cases.
- Carry out functional validation and perform high-fidelity simulations for selected power electronics components and systems.
- Handle EMC and safety-oriented design work, along with qualification activities, preferably in industrial applications.
- Perform electrical calculations based on design needs and safety calculations aligned with compliance standards for transformer design.
- Run power electronics and EMC simulations to meet design requirements.
- Prepare detailed test plans covering bring-up, functional, EMC, and safety testing.
- Execute bring-up, EMC, safety, and functional tests, and troubleshoot issues to improve overall design performance.
- Contribute throughout the electronics product development lifecycle.
- Create and review schematics using relevant design tools.
- Work with PCB specialists and complete final checks before Gerber release in line with standard practices.
- Use MATLAB/SIMULINK-related tools such as Simscape, Battery Builder, and SIMULINK TEST for analysis and validation work.
- Apply statistics and machine learning methods where relevant to support simulation and design correlation.
- Build expert systems and demonstrate strong alignment between simulation outcomes and real-world validation results.
- Support board bring-up, testing, and debugging activities.
Requirements
- Strong experience in developing advanced power converters for industrial environments.
- Solid knowledge of EMC and safety design, testing, and qualification.
- Capability to perform electrical and safety calculations for transformer-related design work.
- Hands-on experience with power electronics simulation and validation workflows.
- Familiarity with the full electronics product design lifecycle.
- Experience using schematic capture tools and coordinating with PCB teams.
- Practical exposure to board bring-up, design verification, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of MATLAB/SIMULINK tools, including Simscape, Battery Builder, and SIMULINK TEST.
- Exposure to statistics, machine learning, and expert-system development for engineering applications.
