Role overview
The Procurement Manager will own and deliver procurement work across the airline’s operational, commercial, and corporate areas. This role is focused on building strong supplier relationships, keeping costs under control, protecting contractual and governance standards, and making sure supply remains steady across stations and departments.
The position requires close coordination with internal stakeholders to align buying activity with business goals, budgets, aviation standards, and audit requirements.
Core responsibilities
- Create sourcing plans for airline spend categories such as ground handling, catering, inflight items, and logistics.
- Make sure procurement decisions support business priorities and stay within approved budgets.
- Carry out market scans and compare pricing to support sound commercial choices.
- Run competitive sourcing exercises such as RFPs and RFQs in line with governance rules.
- Work with Legal and Finance on supplier agreements and ensure all terms meet aviation compliance expectations.
- Monitor expiry dates on contracts and lead renegotiation efforts early enough to avoid interruptions in service.
- Apply procurement policies consistently and track supplier adherence through SLAs and KPIs.
- Build and maintain supplier relationships while supporting the vendor onboarding process.
- Review supplier performance and work with operations teams to resolve any service or delivery gaps.
- Assess bids and quotations, and check financial supporting documents against contractual terms.
- Support savings initiatives and keep records or dashboards that show procurement cost benefits.
- Oversee purchasing for crew uniforms and maintain accuracy across the logistics lifecycle.
- Partner with different teams to meet operational demand and provide internal sourcing support where needed.
- Participate in audits, standardize procurement processes, and keep documentation orderly and accessible.
- Prepare monthly procurement updates and ensure records meet aviation audit standards.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Aviation Management, or a similar discipline is required.
- 5 to 7 years of procurement experience is expected, ideally within aviation, hospitality, or similarly procurement-heavy environments.
- Hands-on knowledge of contracting, negotiation, logistics, and procurement governance is necessary.
- Prior experience handling multiple suppliers and categories in a busy, multi-location setting is important.
- Strong capability in financial analysis, commercial evaluation, and data-driven decision-making is needed.
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel, ERP platforms, and procurement software/tools is required.
- The role calls for strong negotiation ability and solid business judgment.
- Professional conduct, tact, and effective stakeholder management are essential.
- A high sense of responsibility and ownership is expected.
- The candidate should be able to manage competing deadlines and shifting priorities effectively.
- Attention to detail, structured problem-solving, and analytical thinking are important.
- Clear communication and well-organized documentation skills are required.
- Decision-making must be ethical, compliant, and process-led.
