Production Technologist (Studer Operator)

Role Overview

This position is for a production technologist with strong hands-on experience in cylindrical grinding operations, particularly on STUDER machines. The role focuses on setting up, programming, and running external and internal grinding equipment to meet daily output goals, quality expectations, and process standards at the Pune location.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and run cylindrical external and internal grinding machines, preferably STUDER models, to meet daily production and quality targets.
• Configure machines and enter programs based on job requirements while following standard operating instructions.
• Use solid knowledge of grinding wheels, dressing methods, and balancing techniques.
• Carry out grinding work to achieve accurate dimensions and the required surface finish.
• Track process settings such as feed rates, wheel speed, and coolant flow to keep performance and part quality at the desired level.
• Detect issues such as grinding burn, chatter, or dimensional variation, and take corrective action to resolve them.
• Measure and inspect finished components using precision tools to confirm they meet specification.
• Interpret GD&T symbols and apply them correctly during setup and inspection.
• Support development of new products by programming and testing parts directly on the machine.
• Review current grinding methods and identify practical improvements.
• Work in line with safety guidelines and maintain full compliance with workplace safety requirements.
• Handle routine daily and weekly machine upkeep, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor corrective work.
• Work closely with other teams on continuous improvement initiatives and help develop improved grinding methods and processes.

Requirements

• Diploma in any specialization.
• Practical knowledge of cylindrical grinding operations, especially on STUDER equipment, is preferred.
• Strong understanding of grinding wheel selection, dressing, and balancing.
• Ability to program and test grinding jobs on the machine.
• Good reading ability for engineering drawings and GD&T symbols.
• Experience with process monitoring, troubleshooting, and precision measurement.
• Comfortable working on a shop floor environment and following safety and maintenance routines.

Additional Information

Location: Pune, India.

Compensation: INR 6,50,000 to 10,00,000 per year.
