Role overview
A well-known advertising client is looking for a Proofreader to support its Sunnyvale, CA team on a contract basis. This role follows a hybrid schedule, with about three days each week spent onsite in Sunnyvale. The assignment is planned for three months and may continue longer or potentially convert. It is a full-time position with 40 hours per week. Compensation is $26-31.25 per hour, depending on experience, along with W2 and benefit options.
What you will do
- Review a large volume of marketing and brand communication materials for accuracy.
- Partner with editors as well as legal, production, and project marketing teams to keep all deliverables accurate and consistent.
- Help maintain brand integrity and quality across a wide range of print and digital mechanicals used by global partners.
- Proofread marketing assets such as comparison signs, collection signs, product pages, feature pages, and marketing guides.
- Protect confidentiality and uphold a very high standard of quality in all work.
What we are looking for
- A BA or BS in English, Journalism, or an equivalent field.
- At least 4 years of experience in editing, copyediting, or proofreading marketing and technical content in a publication, design agency, corporate marketing communications team, or advertising agency, ideally for a creative or consumer-focused brand.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work tactfully in a fast-moving, confidential studio setting.
- Sharp attention to detail, with the ability to stay focused, set priorities, and adjust quickly in a high-paced environment.
- Prior experience supporting global brands.
- Knowledge of production workflows and brand, retail, interactive, and packaging channels.
- Solid organization and time management skills to juggle multiple projects, track milestones, manage deadlines, and solve day-to-day issues.
- Comfort working with complex systems and tools, including a specialized ticketing platform used to edit and route deliverables.
- Availability and flexibility during peak periods, including longer days and weekends when needed, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and timelines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, and iWork.
- A strong commitment to brand excellence, quality, and confidentiality.
Additional details
This is a contract assignment with a duration of 3 months, with the possibility of extension or conversion. The work schedule is full-time at 40 hours per week. The role is based in Sunnyvale, CA with roughly three days onsite each week.
