Role overview

Yew Seng Heng Engineering is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from the tender stage all the way through final settlement. The role focuses on plumbing, sanitary, and gas works, with additional exposure to mechanical and electrical-related projects.

What you will handle

• Take ownership of quantity surveying activities across the full project cycle, starting from tender preparation and ending with final accounts.
• Compile accurate tender submissions for plumbing, sanitary, and gas works, including site measurement and quantity take-off.
• Study drawings, specifications, and contract papers to clearly understand scope, obligations, and project requirements.
• Discuss and agree on pricing, commercial terms, and contract conditions with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to support cost-efficient project delivery.
• Support contract administration work, including variation orders, claims, final account preparation, settlements, and subcontractor payments during execution.
• Keep organized and up-to-date records of contracts, quotations, progress claims, and other project-related documentation.
• Undertake other quantity surveying duties or any additional tasks assigned by management.

What we are looking for

• A diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
• Ideally, you should have 2 to 3 years of quantity surveying experience in plumbing, sanitary, gas, M&E, or similar industries.
• Good working knowledge of measurement, cost estimation, tendering, and contract administration is important.
• You should be able to understand construction contracts, contractual compliance, and standard industry practices, and confidently interpret project requirements and contractual wording.
• Comfort with Microsoft Excel and the ability to work with drawings and specifications is required.
• Strong analytical ability, accuracy, and attention to detail are preferred.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills will help you succeed in this role.
