About the Role
IAG is seeking a Remediation Calculation Specialist to help design how customer refunds are worked out within a major and expanding remediation programme. In this role, you will develop the logic, methodology and calculation tools that produce fair, accurate and defensible outcomes for customers. Your work will have a direct impact on how complex remediation matters are progressed to resolution.
This position is a permanent, full-time role and is available across multiple locations in Aotearoa New Zealand.
What You’ll Do
- Create and define refund calculation approaches, making sure the assumptions, decisions and constraints are clearly recorded for transparency and consistency.
- Develop practical refund calculators that support remediation activity to be delivered accurately and at scale.
- Work with Pricing, Data and Remediation teams to identify data needs and confirm the quality and reliability of calculation inputs.
- Review complex situations and use sound judgement so calculations properly reflect the specifics of each remediation case.
- Help strengthen methodology and analytics practices to improve consistency, quality and efficiency across remediation work.
- Assist with review and audit processes, including peer review, to ensure outputs are accurate, supportable and suitable for purpose.
What You’ll Need
You should bring substantial practical experience in pricing, actuarial work or quantitative analytics within financial services, with strong depth in at least one of these areas. A solid understanding of insurance pricing principles and how they affect customer outcomes is essential. You will also need advanced analytical and problem-solving ability, along with confidence handling complex scenarios and producing precise, dependable results.
Proficiency with data and analytics tools or programming languages such as SQL, SAS, Python, Power BI or Tableau is important. You’ll need to explain complex methods and calculations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, and you should be comfortable managing several workstreams at once while keeping accuracy high in a fast-paced environment.
