About the Role
Green by Nature is focused on maintaining the outdoor spaces that support local communities. The Tararua team helps keep parks, reserves, and public areas across the district safe, tidy, and well cared for. The business is seeking a versatile Response Operator to join the team in Dannevirke.
This is a practical, varied position suited to someone who enjoys outdoor work and is willing to step in wherever support is needed. You will be involved in a mix of response work, repairs, mowing, edging, trimming, and other grounds-related tasks across different work areas.
Key Duties
- Carry out gardening and horticulture tasks such as planting, pruning, and routine grounds upkeep.
- Operate mowers in parks, reserves, and other open spaces.
- Support response and repair activities, including reactive maintenance on council assets.
- Assist the wider team during busy periods and when team members are on leave.
The role is diverse, and no two days will be the same. Success will depend on being a team player and being ready to adapt to changing priorities.
What We Are Looking For
- A positive, adaptable attitude and a willingness to take on different types of work.
- Previous exposure to gardening, horticulture, mowing, or outdoor maintenance is an advantage, but not essential.
- Confidence using equipment, or the willingness to learn how to use it safely and effectively.
- A strong work ethic and pride in producing high-quality results for the community.
- A full, clean driver licence is highly desirable, along with the ability to drive manual vehicles and tow trailers.
