About Balenciaga
Balenciaga was established by Spanish designer Cristóbal Balenciaga in 1917 and later launched in Paris in 1937. The House became known for reshaping modern couture through innovative approaches to silhouette and technique.
Today, the brand continues to build on that legacy through forward-thinking collections across women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, accessories, and objets d’art. Its engagement with digital innovation, new materials, and social responsibility keeps it aligned with contemporary luxury.
The House’s 50th Couture collection, introduced in 2021, marked the first couture presentation since the founder’s retirement in 1968 and reflected a renewed standard of refined, modern elegance. From October 2015 to July 2025, Demna led both men’s and women’s collections as Artistic Director. In July 2025, Pierpaolo Piccioli became Creative Director.
