Role Summary
The Sales Manager will drive revenue growth by developing new business, nurturing existing accounts, and managing a defined market segment. This role involves direct selling, account planning, contract negotiation, market intelligence, and coordination with internal teams to meet sales and revenue targets.
Key Duties
- Generate business from both new and established accounts through calls, site visits, written communication, and in-person sales efforts.
- Work toward or beyond personal appointment targets, with at least 5 client meetings scheduled each day across current and prospective accounts.
- Handle sales administration tasks such as email responses, correspondence, database updates, and record maintenance.
- Maintain a strong presence among trade and professional contacts related to the assigned market segment.
- Build relationships with clients, local hotel associations, and other community contacts outside the hotel.
- Develop and deliver corporate, consortia, and leisure account strategies through structured action plans.
- Carry out sales action plans in line with the approved revenue and business plan.
- Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing, confirm bookings, draft contracts, and complete sign-off processes with clients.
- Manage contracted accounts on an ongoing basis and set quarterly production targets after securing agreements.
- Deliver room-night and revenue outcomes aligned with incentive and annual business targets.
- Attend major trade and industry events, including associations and exhibitions, when approved by leadership.
- Plan and undertake sales trips to key markets, under the approval of the Director of Sales.
- Record and share market intelligence in the sales information system as instructed.
- Stay informed on market movements, competitor activity, and customer needs.
- Generate and support sales opportunities for sister hotels and the in-house sales team.
- Provide regular feedback to senior sales leadership on changing market conditions and competitor trends.
- Organize familiarization visits and site inspections for major clients and accompany them as needed.
- Complete assigned work on time and meet set deadlines.
- Create and maintain files for major active accounts in the assigned market segment.
- Foster strong working relationships with employees across the business.
- Carry out related responsibilities and special assignments as required.
- Maintain punctuality, professional appearance, and good timekeeping.
- Coach and develop sales executives, sales coordinators, and other team members within the assigned area.
- Prepare timesheets, rosters, and holiday schedules according to business needs when requested.
- Complete purchase orders when needed.
- Support special projects, tasks, and other reasonable requests from the department head or hotel management.
- Draft customer correspondence, internal booking reports, and maintain files accurately.
- Take part in daily RevMax meetings, pre-convention meetings, training sessions, and other sales-related discussions as required.
- Collaborate with other hotel departments to deliver high-quality guest service.
- Represent the hotel at local trade shows, community events, and industry meetings.
