Role overview
The Sanitation Associate helps keep the warehouse and office areas clean, safe, and sanitary while supporting the company’s standards for safety, quality, productivity, and product integrity. The role contributes to an orderly workplace that operates efficiently and delivers value to customers.
Work schedule and pay
Shift: Monday to Friday, first shift (day).
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Pay: CAD 21.34 per hour.
Pay range: CAD 17.95 to CAD 25.71 per hour.
Key duties
- Use cleaning equipment safely and effectively across warehouse and office spaces.
- Carry out sanitation logs and assigned cleaning requirements without skipping steps.
- Handle cleaning agents and liquids according to direction and proper use guidelines.
- Track cleaning supply levels and let the team know when replenishment is needed.
- Keep floors clear of debris and maintain a neat, organized environment.
- Work in a way that supports safety and follows company standards at all times.
- Escalate any areas left untidy by the previous shift to the supervisor.
- Remove snow from designated locations when seasonal conditions require it.
- If trained, inspect sweeper scrubber equipment before and after use to confirm it is functioning properly and looks presentable.
- Spot and report waste or inefficiencies that could affect workflow.
Experience and education
A high school diploma is preferred. Prior sanitation or janitorial experience is also preferred.
Skills and working requirements
- Comfortable reading, speaking, and understanding English to complete assigned tasks.
- Able to adapt to changing duties and work environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Team-oriented with a customer-service mindset.
- Capable of following policies and procedures accurately.
- Able to read, write, and interpret information.
- Can perform basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects as needed.
- Can sit, walk, or stand for the full shift.
- Has the visual acuity needed to perform essential duties.
- Can carry out physical tasks with a full range of motion throughout the warehouse.
- Able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Additional requirements and notes
If the successful candidate lives in Quebec, functional French, both written and spoken, is required.
This role may require completion of mandatory testing and training, ongoing recurrence training, annual accreditations where applicable, and the ability to work on a Windows PC environment. Work schedules may vary depending on business needs.
For positions where driving is a core duty, a valid driver’s license such as Class 5, G, or 1[AZ] is required, along with a driving record showing two or fewer violations and/or accidents in the 24 months before the application date. Candidates may be evaluated using their driver’s abstract, interview performance, and any driver competency assessments.
