Senior System Engineer

Role Overview

Simplix is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join the SOC Fusion Center team in Doha. This is a practical, hands-on infrastructure position focused on keeping a critical production environment stable, secure, and available.

What You Will Do

You will be responsible for day-to-day administration and support across Linux, Windows, virtualization, monitoring, and backup systems.

• Manage Linux servers, including installation, configuration, access control, package handling through apt/yum, patching, system health checks, backups, recovery, firewall rules, IDS/IPS setup, security reviews, and services such as DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
• Administer Windows Server environments by handling accounts and groups, Group Policy, security patching, shared folders, antivirus and firewall settings, security audits, and risk-related checks.
• Support virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere (ESXi and vCenter), Nutanix clusters, and VXRail, including deployment, configuration, tuning, virtual machine administration, and related networking.
• Take full ownership of Zabbix monitoring, from server deployment and host/trigger setup to dashboards, alerts, and reporting.
• Operate Veeam Backup processes, including job oversight, alert handling, storage management, deduplication, and capacity planning.

Experience and Technical Requirements

The role calls for at least 8 years of experience in systems engineering or systems administration, with solid exposure to servers, networks, and virtualization environments.

• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows administration.
• Hands-on experience with VMware and Nutanix platforms.
• Working knowledge of VXRail.
• Practical experience with Zabbix and Veeam Backup.
• Good understanding of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery practices.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.

Certifications and Nice-to-Have Experience

• RHCE certification is compulsory.
• Experience supporting 24/7 production or mission-critical environments is an advantage.
• DevOps exposure will be considered a plus.
• Willingness to travel to client locations and datacenters is preferred.

Education

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent level of relevant work experience is required.
