Role overview
Panda Ireland is looking for a Skip Scheduler to help keep daily skip operations running smoothly from its County Dublin base. This is an active, fast-moving operations position focused on organising deliveries, exchanges and collections so that drivers, vehicles and routes are used efficiently and customer commitments are met.
The position sits within the Operations department and reports to a Line Manager. It is suited to someone who is highly organised, communicates confidently with drivers and internal teams, and can stay composed when priorities change during the day.
What the role involves
You will plan and coordinate day-to-day skip activity, support route performance, handle operational changes and contribute to reliable service delivery. The job requires close collaboration with drivers, customer service, accounts, operations and other teams to make sure work is scheduled realistically, completed on time and recorded correctly.
- Arrange and coordinate daily skip deliveries, exchanges and collections.
- Assign drivers and vehicles in a way that matches operational demand.
- Ensure drivers and vehicles leave on schedule each day.
- Maintain both same-day and advance scheduling rosters.
- Check that enough resources are in place for the next day’s work.
- Monitor routes during the day to help keep jobs on track.
- Review route performance and look for ways to improve efficiency.
- Support route optimisation efforts to improve service and reduce cost.
- Confirm that all routes are checked, completed and signed off in the system.
- Track system or operational issues and follow them through to closure.
- Stay in regular contact with drivers and operational crews.
- Work with Customer Service, Operations, Accounts and other departments to support smooth delivery.
- Share updates on route progress, delays, missed services and other operational concerns.
- Coordinate urgent or ad hoc work when needed.
- Complete end-of-day driver debriefs.
- Answer driver queries and resolve issues promptly.
- Handle disruptions such as breakdowns, delays and missed collections.
- Record and report accidents, incidents and breakdowns according to company process.
- Prepare, issue and manage delivery dockets, manifests and related paperwork.
- Check the previous day’s documentation and resolve any mismatches within agreed timelines.
- Keep scheduling records accurate and up to date.
- Help manage workload so schedules remain realistic and do not become over-committed.
- Work with Customer Service on order intake and customer expectations.
- Support service performance and completion targets.
- Contribute to team objectives and wider operational performance.
About you
The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a busy transport or operations setting and will be comfortable solving problems as they arise. You should be able to switch priorities quickly, communicate clearly and make practical decisions under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills and close attention to detail.
- Experience or confidence in planning, scheduling or coordinating operational work.
- Ability to adapt when priorities change throughout the day.
- Clear, professional communication style.
- Comfort working with drivers, operational teams and internal departments.
- Practical decision-making skills in a pressurised environment.
- Good at identifying issues early and seeing them through to resolution.
- Accuracy when working with records, systems and documentation.
- Customer-focused mindset with awareness of how scheduling affects service.
- Flexibility, reliability and willingness to support the wider team.
Preferred background
Experience in transport, logistics, waste management, skip operations or route scheduling would be an advantage. However, the main priority is finding someone who is organised, proactive and capable of keeping operations moving.
