Role overview
The Steward position supports the department with cleaning-related duties, including handling equipment cleaning and storage in line with the manager’s instructions and Park Hyatt Melbourne’s standards and procedures.
This position is not a food-preparation role. However, there may be occasional support required for chefs with plating tasks.
Key duties
- Collect, receive, and arrange tableware for washing.
- Clean, organize, and store operational kitchen and service equipment.
- Handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with government safety requirements and workplace standards.
- Use cleaning machines safely and correctly.
- Buff and polish silverware using the proper chemicals, tools, and cloths.

What you should bring
Experience in a busy, similar setting will be an advantage. Strong people skills, communication ability, and time management are important. The role also requires flexibility to work a rotating roster, which includes weekends and public holidays.
