Role overview
This opportunity is a paid summer internship for civil engineering students who want practical exposure to engineering consulting. The program is designed to help students work on meaningful projects, develop technical and advisory skills, and learn directly from specialists within a leading consultancy.
The internship runs for 12 weeks and is available in Christchurch, as well as other locations across Aotearoa New Zealand including Auckland and Wellington. It is aimed at students who are curious, motivated, and interested in building a career in consultancy.
Where you could be placed
You may join either the Land & Water team or the Transport team. Depending on placement, work may involve water infrastructure, stormwater and flood resilience, or transport-related projects such as roads, highways, public transport, and walking and cycling networks.

Development and support
The program is structured to strengthen technical skills, build confidence in a consulting environment, and give interns a clearer understanding of future career options. You will be supported by a team leader, a buddy, and the early careers team, and will take part in the Intern Learning Series and Leadership Series.

Availability
The internship requires full-time availability for 12 weeks from mid-November 2026 to February 2027, with a two-week break over Christmas and New Year.
Candidate profile
This role is intended for students currently studying Civil Engineering or a related field, ideally in their second-to-last year. A genuine interest in either Land & Water or Transport is preferred, along with curiosity, strong communication, and a collaborative approach.
