Role Overview

The Supply Chain Manager will lead the full supply chain function from start to finish to keep materials available, maintain healthy inventory, manage shelf-life-sensitive stock, and support on-time delivery of products. This role covers planning, procurement, incoming inspection, warehousing, and international logistics for production and customer needs. The manager will also ensure documentation and shipments meet all applicable regulatory requirements, while coordinating across teams to keep materials flowing smoothly from suppliers to customers in line with FDA, EU, and ISO 13485 expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and improve supply chain and logistics plans that make operations faster and more efficient.
  • Work with Sales, Service, Engineering, Production, Quality, and Finance to align supply activity with business goals and build reliable demand forecasts.
  • Review historical patterns, market signals, and other inputs to predict demand changes and adapt supply plans accordingly.
  • Set inventory strategies that support demand while reducing carrying costs and excess stock.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and contract manufacturers to maintain continuity of supply and keep materials aligned with business needs.
  • Direct import and export activities globally so customer orders are shipped complete, on schedule, and in line with customs and trade rules.
  • Design and manage procurement and replenishment approaches that protect material availability, control costs, and handle expiry-sensitive inventory effectively.
  • Build and monitor integrated schedules across ordering, procurement, planning, warehousing, quality checks, shipping, and delivery to improve coordination and visibility.
  • Spot supply chain risks such as disruptions, geopolitical events, and natural disasters, then create backup plans to reduce impact.
  • Make sure shipments and goods handling follow relevant laws, safety rules, and industry standards.
  • Use analytics tools to study supply chain data and prepare KPI reports that highlight performance and improvement opportunities.
  • Embed ethical sourcing and responsible practices into supply chain operations.
  • Lead improvement and digital transformation efforts that increase visibility, efficiency, and compliance across the end-to-end supply chain.
  • Manage warehousing, incoming inspection, shipping, and receiving to support accuracy, compliance, and efficient use of space and labor.
  • Handle supplier negotiations and supplier performance tracking to optimize cost, quality, and delivery results.
  • Lead sales order and operational planning meetings to align demand, supply, and manufacturing capacity.
  • Oversee annual physical inventory counts and cycle count programs to maintain inventory accuracy and meet financial and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive ERP improvements and integrations, including dashboards and tools that strengthen planning accuracy, material visibility, and execution.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the supply chain team.
  • Apply quality-focused thinking in all work and follow established procedures and standards.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Experience and Education

A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related discipline is required, and a master’s degree is preferred. The role calls for more than 10 years of relevant experience in global supply chain, logistics, and operations, along with at least 5 years spent managing, mentoring, and coaching teams. Experience in the medical device sector and familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA, and CE requirements are expected. Background in government contracts for Canada and the U.S., complex product structures with 1,000+ SKUs, dangerous goods logistics, lean supply chain methods, warehouse management, and external vendor oversight is also important. Candidates should have a record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and within scope, as well as experience monitoring SLAs and KPIs, improving operations, reducing costs, and working with uncertain or unclear demand forecasts. Strong ERP knowledge and a track record of digitalizing supply chain processes through dashboards, data visibility, and automation are also part of the role.

Skills and Knowledge

The ideal candidate brings strong negotiation and stakeholder influence skills, excellent verbal and written communication, and strong organization for managing timelines, roadmaps, and resources. They should be adaptable, analytical, detail-oriented, results-driven, and capable of solving complex problems using large or conflicting data sets. The role also requires strong relationship-building ability, collaborative working style, people leadership, accountability, and advanced computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook. Advanced Excel skills for analysis, modeling, and reporting are needed, along with working knowledge of Expandable ERP, MRP, and MPS.

Other Requirements

This role is mainly office- and warehouse-based. It involves lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and may require some travel.
