About the role
MCM Construct is expanding quickly and is hiring two senior transport leadership positions: one for day shift and one for night shift. These on-site roles in Altona focus on running safe, efficient, and compliant transport activities while improving loading performance and fleet productivity.
You will play a key part in strengthening operational performance, maintaining Chain of Responsibility compliance, and ensuring heavy-vehicle safety standards are consistently met. The positions are full-time and include weekend phone support.
Working hours
- Day Transport Supervisor: 06:00 to 18:00
- Night Transport Supervisor: 18:00 to 06:00
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, with weekend phone support
Key duties
- Oversee daily transport operations across multiple yards so loading targets, dispatch timing, and compliance requirements are achieved.
- Check every load for mass, dimensions, and structural security, including oversize and OSOM permit loads, and approve load restraint based on the engineered restraint diagram.
- Manage compliance for drivers, vehicles, permits, fitness for duty, and fatigue/work diary requirements, while keeping records updated in real time.
- Coordinate equipment, drivers, and subcontractors to improve utilisation and reduce downtime.
- Handle incidents and discrepancies, stop and escalate any non-compliant loads, and complete shift handover and gate-release approvals.
- Prepare handover notes, issue reports, and performance updates to support decision-making and ongoing improvement.
Skills and experience
The role suits someone with substantial transport leadership experience in logistics or heavy haulage, along with strong operational judgement and the confidence to work independently, especially on night shift.
You should also bring a strong grasp of compliance obligations, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to lead teams and engage effectively with stakeholders.
