Role overview

Ampacity is hiring an Associate Project Manager to support the growth of its commercial and utility-scale solar construction work. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone interested in renewable energy and looking to grow with a company that values culture and work-life balance.

The position supports Project Managers across all stages of solar construction projects, including scheduling, budget tracking, safety compliance, and client relationship coordination. The role involves handling several projects at once, often at different phases and locations, so strong organization, attention to detail, and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

This is a field-based role with 100% travel to project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate work across several active projects by working with Project Managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to keep schedules, goals, and deliverables aligned.
• Work with the operations team to identify issues early and help resolve unexpected problems before they delay milestones.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to support planning and execution, including subcontractor recommendations and onboarding.
• Partner with Supply Chain to track material availability and raise procurement risks as soon as they appear.
• Assist senior Project Managers with budget planning, schedule preparation, and contract review.
• Monitor safety compliance at all assigned job sites and escalate concerns quickly.
• Keep project files, databases, and documentation accurate and up to date for reporting and decision-making.
• Share regular status updates with management and Project Managers, highlighting risks and suggesting solutions.

Required qualifications

• At least 1 year of project management experience, ideally in solar or renewable energy construction.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop productive relationships across internal teams, clients, and field staff.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, delegate, and hold others accountable in a fast-moving environment.
• Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
• Working understanding of project planning, scheduling, and budgeting in a construction setting.
• Ability to review and interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications related to solar construction.

Compensation and benefits

The expected pay for this role is USD 90,000 to USD 100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
