Role overview
This position focuses on the upkeep and technical support of distributed SCADA environments based on AVEVA System Platform across several tunnel locations in Qatar. The role is centered on keeping operations reliable, secure, and aligned with compliance requirements, helping support the continuity of a critical infrastructure network.
Key responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and resolve faults across SCADA nodes and control room systems.
- Investigate and fix issues related to software, communications, alarms, and system performance.
- Execute patching activities, backups, redundancy validation, and failover tests.
- Track historian records, alarm status, system links, and the overall condition of the SCADA environment.
- Prepare and maintain logs, root-cause analysis reports, maintenance records, and change documentation.
- Coordinate with OEMs, consultants, and in-house stakeholders to support upgrades, escalations, and improvements.
- Assist with cybersecurity-related tasks, asset lifecycle management, and system enhancement projects.
Required background
The ideal candidate brings 5 to 6 years of practical experience maintaining SCADA systems, preferably within infrastructure or utility environments. Strong working knowledge of AVEVA System Platform, Intouch/OMI, Historian, and Galaxy Repository is essential. Familiarity with PLC platforms from Schneider, Siemens, or Rockwell is also expected. A good grasp of OPC UA/DA, industrial networking, redundancy setups, and remote system architectures is important, along with strong troubleshooting, reporting, and communication abilities. A Qatar driving license would be an advantage.
Education and certifications
A bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics Engineering is required. AVEVA System Platform certification is strongly preferred, while networking or cybersecurity qualifications would be beneficial.
