Role overview
The custodial team at J.D. Irving, Limited is looking for a cleaner to keep work areas safe, tidy, and presentable. The role focuses on routine cleaning across offices and common areas, with duties covering floors, carpets, washrooms, kitchenettes, waste removal, and other general housekeeping tasks.
This is an onsite position in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. Working hours are from 5:00 PM to midnight, and the pay range is $17.00 to $18.50 per hour.
Key duties
- Follow company health and safety procedures at all times.
- Use manual and powered equipment to sweep, dry mop, scrub, wash, and buff floors and stairwells.
- Vacuum carpets in offices and shared spaces, carry out daily spot cleaning, and shampoo rugs when instructed.
- Remove garbage and recycling, change liners, and move waste to designated collection areas.
- Thoroughly clean washrooms and kitchen/kitchenette areas, including disinfecting and polishing fixtures, appliances, handles, walls, mirrors, counters, partitions, receptacles, and floors.
- Restock consumables such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and sanitizer.
- Clean marks and smudges from walls, doors, kick plates, and other vertical surfaces.
- Clean elevators where applicable.
- Perform high dusting and wall washing.
- Take on additional related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Able to follow instructions, work independently with little supervision, and collaborate well with a team.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality service.
- Good organizational skills, energy, and stamina for physically active work.
- Comfortable using cleaning tools and equipment.
- Prior experience with auto scrubbers is considered an advantage.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to arrange transportation consistently.
